Halloween makeup tutorial | Five steps to the perfect scary look!

Halloween makeup

It’s the scariest night of the year: October 31st is Halloween! If you, too, want to jump into the frightening pleasure but still need some inspiration for a fresh makeup and costume, we have prepared a Halloween makeup tutorial for you, with which you can become a different witch in five steps!

Halloween: everything in the green!

Halloween parties are something like Oktoberfest: if you don’t wear the right clothes, you will get slightly pitying looks at the party. So that you don’t have to go out in black jeans and a whisker with kajal this year, cosplayer and makeup expert Doreen has come up with an alternative for you: It shows you how to become a green witch!

In our video tutorial, she explains step by step how to apply water-based makeup and then complements your Halloween makeup with contours, blush, highlighter, dramatic eyelashes, and the perfect lipstick.

You need this:

  • Water-based makeup (for example from Eulenspiegel, you can get it in many costume and creative markets, or you can order it online, for example at Amazon: Aqua Schminke hexengrün )
  • Water & sponges
  • Makeup brushes in different sizes
  • Eye shadows, preferably in dark colors and a very bright, shimmering tone, which you can use as a highlight
  • rouge
  • Lipstick, ideally long-lasting
  • False eyelashes and eyelash glue
  • tweezers
  • An optional fixing spray to make the makeup more durable (you can also order this online, for example at Amazon: Maybelline Superstay 24H Make-up Fixing Spray )
  • Accessories: For example, dark clothes, chains, a witch hat, a broom, a coat

Step 1: The water-based makeup

Moisten a small sponge with water. Make sure that it is not too wet. Now you take up the makeup with the sponge and apply it evenly to the face and décolleté. You can paint over small irregularities later with a smaller brush when the makeup has dried.

Step 2: The contours

Use a darker eyeshadow color (preferably a dark green, if you have also chosen the green makeup) and use it to contour along your cheekbones, temples, nose, and chin, or jawbone. Follow the natural contours of your face. You can also emphasize your cheeks with a little blush and visually highlight the bridge of the nose and the high cheekbones with a highlighter.

Step 3: The eyes

Apply kohl first. Then apply a lilac eyeshadow over your eye contour with a fluffy brush. Use a darker eyeshadow and a beveled brush to trace your lower lash line. You then use this color to apply it to the crease of the eyelid with a round brush. Swipe back and forth until everything is well blended.

If you want to stick on false eyelashes to make your look even more dramatic, it’s best to use tweezers! First, apply the strip in the middle of the eyelid. If the eyelashes sit here, you can attach the outer, then the inner corner. Also, make sure that the eyelashes, especially if they are new, are the right length for your eyelid. Otherwise, it pisses! If the eyelash strip is a bit too long, you can carefully shorten it with nail scissors.

Step 4: The lips

Apply a long-lasting purple lipstick. If you want, you can retrace the lip hem with a color-matched contour pencil. For a special effect, you can put a slightly lighter color or your highlighter in the middle of the lips.

 Step 5: The accessories

There are no limits to your imagination – but a witch hat completes the outfit perfectly

First step:

Mix the eyeshadow with the fixing spray (alternatively, you can also take water). Mix everything into a liquid and gently apply the mixture around the eyes. Take in so much fluid that everything runs smoothly. If you want, you can also use the mix to the corners of your mouth – done!
